According to the Liverpool Echo, Everton have agreed to sign Newcastle United in a £6million deal, but now hope that he will snub interest from Tottenham Hotspur.
The Toffees may have caught the eye with big signings such as Jordan Pickford, Michael Keane and Wayne Rooney, but they have also had one eye on the future as well. Deals for youngsters Nathangelo Markelo, Josh Bowler and Boris Mathis have all arrived this summer to boost the youth ranks at Goodison Park, and more could be on the way. |

The Liverpool Echo report that Everton have now agreed a £6million fee with Newcastle United for teenage defender Lewis Gibson – but are hoping that he will snub a move to Tottenham Hotspur.
Gibson, who turned 17 today, has come up through the ranks with Newcastle, and featured regularly for the Magpies at youth level last season. Primarily a centre back, Gibson can also play at left back, and looks to have a huge future ahead of him, hence the huge interest in his signature. Everton's Director of Football, Steve Walsh, is understood to have made Gibson a priority signing this summer, hence the Toffees being so willing to fork out a hefty £6million fee for the 17-year-old. However, Everton haven't quite secured Gibson's signature just yet, with Southampton and Tottenham Hotspur also interested in landing him, and the Toffees will be hoping that the youngster snubs the two Premier League sides in favour of a move to Merseyside. |
