Sigurdsson suffers devastating injury
According to news reports out of Scandinavia on Monday morning, Gylfi Sigurdsson’s Premier League season is over.
Not only that, but Sigurdsson is also a huge doubt for the 2018 World Cup in Russia.
Sigurdsson played 90 minutes for Everton on on Saturday in a 2-0 home win over Brighton.
But despite completing the match against the Seagulls, it’s now been confirmed that Sigurdsson suffered a “serious” injury.
As reported by Icelandic football website Fotbolti, Gylfi Sigurdsson has either damaged or torn ligaments in his knee.
This report has been confirmed by the Everton star’s brother, Olafur Mar Sigurdsson.
Whether Sigurdsson will be fit for Iceland this summer is now up in the air.
Depending on the gravity of the ligament injury, Sigurdsson could spend anywhere from two to three months on the sidelines to a much longer period of time.
