Brands want Lookman to stay at Everton
Ademola Lookman will get the opportunity he craves at Goodison Park next season - but the future of summer signing Davy Klaassen is more uncertain.
Everton's new Director of Football, Marcel Brands, sent out a message which will delight Blues fans frustrated by the loss of exciting youngster Lookman to a second half of the season loan to Red Bull Leipzig in Germany.
Asked about Lookman's prospects under the new regime, the former PSV Eindhoven chief revealed he tried to sign the England Under-21 international himself.
"I can be clear in that because I know the player very well," he said. "He was on my list at PSV (to sign). He is a very talented young player and I think he has to be moved up next year (to the first team squad)."
Lookman had impressed in a Europa League dead rubber in Cyprus against Apollon Limassol, scoring twice, and produced an impressive cameo as a substitute in the FA Cup derby at Anfield.
But under previous boss Sam Allardyce he featured in just 30 minutes of Premier League action before deciding to take his future in his own hands and demanding a loan move to the Bundesliga.
He shone in Germany with Red Bull Leipzig keen to make the loan move permanent, but it seems that Everton are keen to give the 20-year-old the exposure he desires next season.
