Barkley's demands jeopardize Spurs move
England international Ross Barkley wants to land a contract worth £150,000-a-week to sign for Tottenham, according to the Daily Mirror.
Barkley was left out of Everton’s pre-season trip to Holland and Belgium this week with a groin injury amid intense speculation over his future.
The 23-year-old is believed to be pushing for a summer move after spending over a decade at Goodison, first as a youth-team player and then as a first-team star.
The Mirror say Barkley wants £150,000-a-week to join Spurs, who are interested in a deal but have baulked at Everton’s £50million valuation.
The north London outfit instead see a fee of around £15m to be acceptable for a player who has just one year remaining on his current contract.
But Tottenham will refuse to meet Barkley’s contract demands with star players Harry Kane and Hugo Lloris only on around £120,000-a-week.
Barkley has made over 150 appearances for Everton since making his debut in 2010 but endured a difficult season for the Toffees.
Speaking about the player’s future at Goodison earlier in the year, Ronald Koeman said: ‘I spoke to the player, the board spoke to his agent. I don’t know if he won’t give an answer. I don’t know.’
